Mason and Dawson Bees (8-11 year olds)

2024-2025 School Year: For the upcoming school year our elementary students will be grouped into 2 rotating classes: Mason Bees (8-9 yrs) and Dawson bees (10-11 yrs). These classes will rotate through the subjects listed below, in addition to a combined PE block with the Drone Bees (see the Frequently Asked Questions Page for the planned schedule).

Handicrafts: In our handicraft class, children will learn how to make practical items for daily use or to give as gifts. Some ideas for this class include rug weaving, soap carving, paracord braiding and more. Children will learn how to pay attention to detail, how to increase their patience, and how to appreciate different skills and techniques used in handicrafts.

World Geography and Cultural Exploration: In this class, we will travel the globe and fill our passports with over 12 stamps! At each stop we will immerse ourselves in the local culture. Studying its music, art, history, geographical features, holidays, cuisine and we’ll even learn a few key terms in the country’s language. It is the hope to broaden not only our knowledge of the world and its many cultures, but also to gain a love for this beautiful world God has created.

Botany: In this course, we will investigate one of God’s amazing creations: plants!  Our student botanists will study the parts of seeds, plants, and flowers, while growing our own!  They will also take a look at leaves, trees, photosynthesis, and compare plant cells to animal cells through hands-on lessons.  These lessons will utilize The Good and the Beautiful’s “Botany” Unit as well as other original lessons that correlate with students’ interests and learning styles.

Etiquette: Through hands-on activities and role playing, this course teaches manners, making friends, and positive body language and eye contact. We will discuss basic concepts of manners and etiquette, friendship, respect, empathy, and what it means to live biblically in a world where it’s easy to do anything but that. Our overall goal is for students to develop confidence and grace in navigating social situations, preparing them for success in diverse personal and professional settings.
